Nalanda University (Nalanda)
It was founded by Gupta Emperors in 5th century. There were thousand of teachers and student.The courses of study included scriptures of Budhism(both Mahayana & Hinyana Schools) Vedas, Hetu Vidya (Logic) , Shabdya Vidya (grammar), Chikitsa Vidya (Medicine) etc. Foreign Students also studied here. Chinese Traveller Huien Tsang studied in this university. It was world's 1st residential university.
The Ruins of this university extended over large area about 14 hectares.The ruins contains a number of Buddhist Chaityas,monestaries,Hostels, cells, rooms,with central courtyard ,lecture hall etc.
It was destroyed by Bkhtiyar Khilzi (a Turk )in 12 th century.

Nalanda Archelogical Museum-- Located at the opposite side of ruins of university. It has beautiful collection of buddhist and hindu bronzes and number of undamaged ststues of lord Buddha. It includes copper plates and stones inscription ,coins,pottery,and samples of burnt rice (12th century A.D) .

Vikramshilla University- Located in Antichak village ,Bhagalpur
King Dharmpal of Paal Dynastyu founded this University. excavation at this site were done in 1960-61, number of Buddha images ,inscribed seals,and stupas have been found.
